ANTIOCH, CA- Strong first quarter sparks momentum for Team Trouble in a 144-102 road victory over the Contra Costa County Delta Stars.
Coming into tonight’s ABA Opener, Team Trouble came in ranked #7 in the nation. The team surely didn’t disappoint coming out with fire early in the game.
The leader behind the momentum you ask? One of the newest additions to the team Marshall University Alumni Shawn Smith, who ended the first quarter out to lead the team with 10 points, closing the quarter out with a 35-27 lead over the Delta Stars.
Shawn Smith ended the night out for Team Trouble with 3 free throws, 5 two pointers and 5 three pointers to combine for a whopping 28 points. Following Smith in points was both Christian Williams and Tim Howell, who both racked up 19 points in the victory.
Team Troubles lead only continued to increase in the second quarter, as the team closed out the first half up 71-54 giving the team a nice cushion heading into halftime.
The team later closed out the game in the second half combining for a total of 73 points, pushing the team to a big 144-102 win over the Delta Stars.
Team Trouble will continue their road trip tomorrow as they travel up to Oakland to play the Oakland Townhawks, while the Delta Stars rest up for next weekend.

“It took a lot of effort as a whole to push past the Delta Stars by such a great amount,” said Team Trouble Guard, Christian Williams. “The Oakland Townhawks have been a team that we have had many battles with, fans expect another great game tomorrow.”
“It was interesting playing the Delta Stars for the very first time ever, they have great talent on both sides of the court” said Team Trouble GM, Jovan Bankston. “Heading into tomorrow we need to carry the momentum and take each game one by one.”
“The Delta Stars played a touch game, it was a very entertaining game with some fantastic live music.” said Team Trouble CEO, James Paul. “Going into tomorrow we must go in with the same momentum we came with in tonight and make sure we execute 100% on both sides on the ball.”
