Team Trouble: Opponent Set for Far West Playoff Semi-Finals

San Joaquin County, CA – The opponent has been set for Far West Semi-Finals game, hosted by Team Trouble. It is a familiar foe, The Orange County Novastars. The Novastars, earned their chance to take on Team Trouble in a stunning overtime victory over the Oakland Townhawks on Saturday, with a 142 – 136 victory. Team Trouble and the Novastars have played each other three times previously, in the past two seasons, with Team Trouble coming out victorious in all three of those meetings.

But this is playoffs, where anything can happen, and this weekend was proof of that fact. In two of the three Quarter-Final games played in the Far West Division this past weekend, there were two upsets and two games that were decided in overtime. The Las Vegas Royals as the 5 seed came into San Diego and upset the formerly reigning champion from 2018, San Diego Kings, 127 – 123. The other upset was the number 7 seed Seven City Knights out of Phoenix, AZ defeating the number 3 seed San Diego Guardians, in overtime, 127 – 122. 

The Las Vegas Royals at the number 5 seed will now host the number 7 seed Seven City Knights in the other Semi-Final game in Las Vegas, NV. The winner of the two Semi-Final games will meet each other on Saturday, March 30th to determine who will get the right to travel to St. Louis, MO., where the finals will be held to determine an American Basketball Association champion, battling in the Elite Eight, hosted by the St. Louis Spirits. Team Trouble, the current 1 seed in the playoffs, will look to take care of the Novastars and get themselves one game closer to the goal of reaching St. Louis.

Thoughts on the Upcoming game: 

“We can’t take any team for granted, no matter what was done in the past.” Stated Trouble GM Jovan Bankston when asked about how he felt the team’s chances were in making the Elite Eight in St. Louis. “The playoffs are a different season, we just need to take it one game at a time and not squander this opportunity that we have worked for in getting the 1 seed!” – Bankston added.

The game will be played at Franklin High School, Saturday, March 23rd with a tipoff of 6pm.
