TEAM TROUBLE BACK IN ACTION!
STOCKTON, CA- The 2018 ABA season has finally arrived, as Team Trouble welcomed in the Oakland Townhawks for a preseason matchup.
With the matchup came some new faces to the court which included Tim Howell D3 NCCA Player of The Year (Whitman College), Shawn Smith (Marshall University), Mikel Bringham (California Sea-Kings) and Leo Svete (California Sea-Kings).
Team Trouble started off the first quarter off strong pushing past the Townhawks to lead 25-20 heading into the second quarter. The teams, fire only continued from there combining for 34 points in the second quarter alone to give the team some cushion heading into halftime up 59-46.
The third quarter saw a lot of intensity on both sides of the court. One moment inparticularly being a good half court shot by the Townhawks in the final seconds of the quarter, giving the team 30 points alone in just one quarter. Team Trouble’s momentum only continued to show closing out the quarter, up 93-76.
The Oakland Townhawks came into the fourth quarter knowing they had to do something if they wanted to stay in the game. The team drew close to Team Trouble mid way through the quarter, but Team Trouble’s lead would be too much for the Townhawks, as the team pulled past for a 121-102 preseason win.
Team Trouble will now take the road November 3rd to face the new Contra Costa County Delta Stars, while the Oakland Townhawks head on down to face the new San Francisco City Cats also on November 3rd.

“It feels good to pick up the win tonight after coming off a season ending injury. I was told I was never going to be the same and would need surgery, but I went to rehab and put my mind to my goal and here I am back playing tonight,” said Team Trouble Point Guard, Eric King. “After having such a great season you know we have a target on our back and we have to defend it heading into our ABA opener against the Delta Stars.”
“This was an ugly win actually, but it’s good to get winning,” said Team Trouble Point Guard, Christian Williams. “Were going to turn up practice a little harder, get more polished and as the season goes will get better as a whole.”
“We brought in a lot of great pieces, some being Shawn Smith from Marshall University, Tim Howell NCCA D3 Player of The Year and Mikel Bringham from the California Sea-Kings who comes from a team that made a run in the Final 8. These guys are great additions for our great group of players,” said Team Trouble GM, Jovan Bankston. “You can expect a lot of running gun this season it’s going to be a fast paced game with the pieces we have added this season. Heading into November 3rd were going to keep working hard in practice and fix what we need to fix.”
“It was a good contest overall and it was good practice for our new guys who are adjusting to the pace of play of the ABA. A couple of new guys this season include Tim Howell D3 NCAA Player of The Year from Whitman very high energy and all of the court player, another good player Shawn Smith from Marshall his a big force and very talented from outside, we got Mikel Bringham and Leo Svete from the California Sea-Kings that join us both very talented players that are working through the rotation,” said Team Trouble CEO, James Paul. “We are really happy and proud to help the new Contra Costa County Delta Stars with their home opener, we hope to put on a great show for them as well as their fans.”
